A Long Turkey Trot

So many things to be thankful for and more importantly all of those individuals in our lives who surround us each day.  We may not get to see or talk to all of the important people in our lives as often as we like, but we hope they all know how much they mean to us.  We have those that live in our home and care for our children, neighbors who entertain us, family a block away who bail us out of every jam you can imagine, friends within miles who manage to show up for each of our parties, family states away who know we would visit more often if time allowed it, friends who we can talk to once in awhile and yet the conversation is as if we spoke yesterday and so many more important people in our lives.
There is no way I could sit here and list all of the blessings that we have had this year, but that is the fun of blogging.  At any time I can look up one of the fun moments in our lives over the last I've years and it always brings a smile to my face.  This blog doesn't capture all of the little events that make us laugh, cry and cringe each day, but at least we get a little piece of memory lane.  We hope that the holidays have been a beautiful time for everyone, please excuse our delay in sharing ours.
What did you do for Thanksgiving?  This little family of four jumped in the car and headed west.  Not out to the far west, but 6 hours on I-10 is just about all that this family can stand to be in the car.  So we made it to Alabama and not a moment too soon, because somehow the little boogers in the backseat managed to not fall asleep in the car the entire way there and we purposely didn't let them take a nap before we left...frustrating.  By the time we arrived on Wednesday evening there wasn't much time other than to run around to kill some energy and then head to bed.
Thursday morning we were up bright and early, dressed in our finest turkey gear and ready for a day of eating, cupcake decorating and lounging.

A 33rd birthday cake for me, my favorite PB pie!
Traditionally on Friday the guys would go golfing while Steph and I entertained the girls, but this year I said no way and we planned to go to New Orleans.  Unfortunately there was a cold snap and I didn't want to risk driving all the way to NOLA for the kids to be miserable and cold.  Our change of plans now included the Fairhope French Quarter instead.  We shopped, ate beignets, played by Mobile Bay and enjoyed the day.

Later that evening we truly entrenched ourselves into the allure of the Redneck Riviera.  Stephenie told us about this great train that the kids would love so of course we were in.  We jump in the car and fifteen minutes later we were pulling into a trailer park...huh?  Confused?  Yah, me too.  We park the car, pay the entrance, walk over a little bridge and there it was, a train and millions of little lights.  Steph was right, the kids loved it.  There was a big train that we rode to the North Pole where we visited with Mr and Mrs Claus and decorated train whistles.  When we got back on the train and headed back to the train station there was hot chocolate and cookies waiting.

Enjoying the train room while waiting on our train to depart.

After our tasty treats it was time to freeze our hineys off on the little train.  I think we were all popsicles by the time the ride was over.

Two trains were't enough for this crew because there were still animals to feed and horses to ride.  Adelaide completely shocked us when she asked to ride a horse.  This was coming from the kid who refused to touch a goat not two minutes before hand.

Saturday was fun around the house, rides in the golf cart and the crowning moment of the weekend the girls very first movie theater experience.  We have been scared to take the girls to a movie but somehow they sat still and quiet for the the entire screening of Frozen.

Thank you for a fabulous weekend GG and Pap!!
