It's My Birthday Hey Hey It's My Birthday!!

A wild and crazy day for A on her 6th Birthday!!  We found out that this little punkin (spelled the Gasbarro way) stood on her desk for a special song right after she passed out her favorite Publix sugar cookies to her friends.

After school we had to run really fast in order to get everything done on this special day.  First we needed to get dinner, take A to soccer practice and then P to practice and eventually head home for a little surprise.

Finally home for cake, no wait ice cream because some people don't like cake and a few more gifts of course.

Have to love the excitement from this little girl.

Yes, K this is what you look like at E parties.
Please show me what you have, please!

All about me at age 6:
-funny, especially when I'm not trying to be.
-sweet almost to a fault which is why my little sister tries to boss me around
-not an aggressive bone in her tiny little body
-will pick up and read anything she finds
-doesn't know what sleeping in means, but when she gets up in the morning the first thing she does is look for a workbook
-falls asleep within moments of her head hitting the pillow
-still doesn't care about watching tv or movies
-favorite song is Turn Down for What - can thank her daddy for that one
-best little snuggler a mommy could ask for
-loves her sister beyond words and always wants her around

Happy Birthday Sweet Girl, we love you so much

We Have a 1st Grader!!

Take a deep breath...Adelaide is officially in 1st Grade.  I know most people stress about K, but I was really excited last year versus this year in which I am a nervous wreck.  With all of that being said the supplies are bought, new backpack in hand and so much excitement that A can hardly stand it!!

We get to the school for our intro to 1st grade and there were two huge surprises in that A was going to be in a portable this year which I should be used to considering that's what I was in in elementary school and the second surprise was A's best friend was in her class again, what a relief.

On the first day of 1st Grade I woke up to a fully dressed five year old staring at me wanting to know if it was time to see Ms. Wells yet.  Here is the small miracle that others may not notice, but was a big deal for this mom...A didn't fight about wearing a dress or a skirt for two straight days.  A whole closet full of cute cute clothes and this kid will only wear shorts, jeans and sneakers, oh and baseball hats.
We started our morning with breakfast at home and a hot walk to school.  The original plan was to take P to daycare so that A could get some alone time, but A wasn't having it P was walking to school too.

Bye Sissy, have the best day.
Trying to earn that Teachers Pet Award on the first day.
First class photo of the year.
New friends for A.
In hopes of an uneventful yet exciting year!!

Super Girls!!

When your oldest comes home and tells you that she doesn't play with the girls at school because they don't like superheroes you know that there won't be a lot of pink and lace at the next birthday party.  So the Super Girl theme was picked, unfortunately I quickly found out that you can't find anything pre made for these parties unless you want to pay a fortune on etsy.  Of course everyone knows I have a pinterest problem so we got to work on our decorations and invitations.

Mask and cape making station.

I do have to say that I was pretty proud of our party this year and my ability to not invite the entire neighborhood.  I scaled things down a bit which meant that we had the right amount of kids, parents and superheroes playing inside and outside during the party.

Water balloons and squirt guns were the winning activities for the day.

After the kids and some adults turned themselves into superheroes they headed over for a little picture posing, I mean flying over buildings with their super strength.
Super Friends!

The Super Grandparents were hiding inside...
Obviously I am not a teacher, because we needed a bunch of help trying to gather roughly 15 little people for the start of the obstacle course.  Each person had to wait in line for their name to be called before they ran through hoops, dived into a tunnel, squirt a shield with their water gun, tossed a ball into a bucket and finally raced a pink donkeyish toy to the finish line.  Once they got to the end of course there had to be a prize so everyone took home a medal.

That's our overgrown child of a friend Andy.

I am sure this was an enlightening conversation.

Super Grr was a course official.

What kind of party is it if you can't eat cake?!

After everyone left for the evening it was finally time to let the girls open presents.  Am I the only person who hates having the kids open gifts while everyone is still there?  Once Grant took A to a little boys party and when he opened the gift and didn't like it she started crying.  I vowed never to have that awkward moment happen in my house so we wait until the party is over.

Thank you to everyone who came to the girls birthday party, we love having everyone in our home and celebrating the cutest, sweetest and most challenging little people in our lives.

Now to plan for the theme for next year...
