Christmas Eve is finally here and it feels like yet again I am completely unprepared and rushed, but no matter what I am going to make this day and the next one for the memory book. Grant and I both worked in the morning and then we rushed home to what I consider Grant's Christmas gift and he says was just dumb luck timing because after ten years it was finally time to trade in the little white Mercedes for a more grown up car for G. When I say grown up it means that there are actually four doors and I can assist with getting the girls in and out of the backseat without my butt hanging out for everyone to see.
G wasn't so happy about the bow, but it had to happen.
This is G refusing to take a picture with his "gift."
There wasn't much time to admire because there were last minute gifts to grab, lunch to be eaten, girlies to be picked up from YaYa's house and eventually we need to get to church and dinner. Seriously how much more can we fit into one day?
Mike Mike and Auntie K joined us for church this year.
P wouldn't stand still she danced the entire time we were trying to take a picture.
After we got home there were two gifts for the girls from Mommy and Daddy, new jammies!!
After getting ready for bed, posing for the camera, putting out refreshments for Santa, sprinkling rein door food in the frontyard and one last story it was time to close their eyes so that Santa would come to our house.
Santa's work is never done in this house, as soon as the girls were asleep it was time to assemble and place the presents in anticipation for tomorrow.
P's bedroom tree
A had one too.
My Mom has created a monster in me that my goal for Christmas morning is that everything be perfect. This means that I hardly sleep at night and then set an alarm clock so that I can be there to capture the moment the girls wake up. The tree was lit, breakfast was on the table, fireplace on and music playing but where are the girls...still asleep!! Of course, it was the one day that they decided to sleep in and I couldn't stand it anymore so we woke them up.
The girls were up and moving not to mention the begging to open gifts, but we had to wait for five more things...GB, Grrr, YaYa, Mike Mike and Auntie K to show up at the front door.
Just how big is a toddler sleeping bag? Just ask K because she seems to fit.
Thank goodness Santa heard every one of A's wishes because a jet was her number one wish this year.
After all of that we haven't made it to lunch yet...off to YaYa and Grr's house. I have turned into that parent who dresses their children up in outfits that will completely embarrass them later in life and this is one of my many examples. My parents jetted off to Europe over Thanksgiving and one of the gifts they brought back for the girls were authentic leather lederhosen. Now this isn't exactly a practical gift, but as I thought about when these little girls were going to wear them it came to me...reindeer. So imagine everyone's surprise when two little reindeer were at the door waiting to open more presents.
Oh yes, Downton Abbey wine - I sort of had to buy it for her since I'm the one who got her hooked.
We ended our morning of gifts with a special appearance from Anna and Elsa from Frozen and a little makeup for Daddy.
Last but not least after a little rest at home it was back to the Adam house for a fabulous dinner and games with family and friends.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a Happy New Year.
