Apparently 2014 has been our year to check some states off of our travel bucket list because we made an awesome weekend out of our quick trip to Oklahoma. What could be better than a weekend of visiting Lindsey and seeing some Tennessee football? For those of you who don't know Lindsey, we were set up on a playdate years ago in Jacksonville and have had a great friendship since then though I am still annoyed with her for moving around. Lindsey was Adelaide's first friend and is still fondly known as "My Lindsey" to A.
As we were walking through the Dallas airport you would think that we were Big Orange Rockstars because the gates going to OKC were packing with orange and a lot of shout outs. Granted we were going to this game knowing that our butts were going to be handed to us, but that was ok since this was my first away game in a long time that was not The Swamp.
Lindsey picked us up from the airport where we found our best buds Paige and Matt. A short while later we were freezing our butts off at a campus bar where I was extremely apprehensive as to why everyone was being so incredibly nice. We were not used to being in a place where the home team actually wants the visitors in their town. For awhile there I was keeping track of all of the nice people who were making nice comments, but the number got too high along with the drink count so I had to stop.

GAME DAY!! So we go downstairs of the hotel and strike up a conversation with the family at the table next to us, that family happened to be Bill Bates who played for UT and the Cowboys once upon a time and now his son is a Vol. They also happen to live about 30 minutes from us which made for an easy conversation. After we all finish getting ready we head outside and surprise there is another man welcoming us to Norman and making sure everyone is treating us well. I was standing there in shock over our treatment, but why is Lindsey running around the car and shaking this mans hand? Yep, it was Barry Switzer. Nope, no idea who this guy was until I looked at his hands and noticed a HUGE SuperBowl ring, you can see it too if you look closely at Lindsey's shoulder. This friend of mine sure does know how to roll out the red carpet, Matt was in heaven and said his day would be complete even without a win if we could just meet The Boz. Good luck with that one Matt, it's time to tailgate so lets go.

Tailgating was very different here they actually shut down the streets and sell beer and food as you walk around. After a bunch of free beer given to us by the people in red we crashed a few parties, met up with old friends from college and some new.

A decade has past since my last sighting of this sorority sister, so nice to meet up again.
At this point you would think it was time to see a little football, but we had to make one travelers dream come true...THE BOZ!!!

Matt is going to talk about this picture for a lifetime.

I started going to football games with this guy 15 years ago, we were both a little less gray back then.
It really was a great weekend, but we were ready to go home to our little people too bad we ended up being 8 hours late!

Check out this happy camper.
Thank you Lindsey and family for your hospitality and years of friendship. We will see you in Knoxville next year!
