Wild Thing You Make My Heart Sing

It was Penelope’s Day and she just could not get enough of the animals at the zoo.  We had to bring our own elephant to show the real elephants and then the shock and amazement over all of the things that they could do with their trunks.  P is a true sponge, she literally remembers everything that you tell her which means now when we see an elephant on tv, in the toy box, etc we get a dissertation on how they eat, get wet, etc.

Least favorite part of the day were the snakes, how do these kids know to be afraid?  I don’t think we have ever talked about not playing with snakes, but it’s Florida and they are everywhere so maybe they talked about it at daycare.

There was also a big Adelaide revelation, this was the first time that she wasn’t terrified when we asked her if she wanted to feed the giraffes which means it was also the first time Adelaide didn’t just drop the branch and run.

When we allowed time for play in the kids area we didn’t know just how fast the little slides were, oh yes we were the stellar parents who let the girls go down the slide and when I realized just how fast they were I had to push another kid out of the way so that mine didn’t face plant into the ground.  To my credit the kid was probably 12 and the same size as me.  We got things under control the next twenty times they went down the slide, though one of my children about took me out at the knees once.

You want me to touch that thing...I don't think so.

Holy cow this slide is fast!

Lucky for my little monsters that they have a YaYa who gave them money to ride the carousel, unfortunate for them that Mommy and Daddy weren’t standing in line for them to ride a second time.  That meant unfortunately for us this lead to the first melt down of the day and the signal to get to the car quickly.
