It's Football Time in Fleming Isl

If you have been following this blog for any length of time you know that I live in a house full of football nuts and the loudest one is Adelaide.  Imagine A's excitement when we told her that she was going to be able to play football.  Some of you may be reading this and thinking about A's size.  Yes, she was the smallest team member and one of the two girls on the team, but thankfully this was flag football and not tackle.  This Mommy could not sit back and watch her little girl get pushed around by a bunch of big boys.  So on to the games...
Adelaide of course had a problem with understanding that you are not only supposed to share your pink football but also that the other kids are supposed to steal your flags and that is why you are supposed to run run run.
First game was a flop for this mom as I forgot the mouth guard, forgot the diaper bag for P which we needed, forgot the chairs and I forgot the camera.  AHHHAAAAHHHH!  No worries, we got it together by the next game.  I had the camera and was ready to go and then it happened, they set her up to run down the field and I was so excited to see her going in the right direction and not yet having her flags pulled that I forgot to video her scoring her first touchdown AAAHHHHHHAAAHHHH!  Not to diminish her TD but the coaches arranged with the opposing coach that no one would pull her flags and let her run.  Yes, at this point I almost cried.
This season A was much more confident about being on the field without the folks, played when she was supposed to (for the most part), she made some new friends and this Mommy came to realize that I can't be scared of A going to kindergarten with all of these big boys.  Oh and she scored three TDs.

The league was through the Y so there was a short prayer before each game.

Princess Penelope on the sidelines.

No this photo is not distorted, she was that much smaller than everyone else, but she didn't bat an eye at it.

Her favorite position and part of the game.

Coach Bobby and Coach Joe, couldn't have asked for better coaches.

Memorial Day Celebration

This Memorial Day I am excited to say that we celebrated with many military families that I am proud to call our friends.  We took a moment to have a simple backyard cookout, played with all of the kids, flew airplanes and drank a few beers.  A nice relaxing day to remember those that served in our Armed Forces and to celebrate those that are currently serving.
Everyone brought something to share.
Wahoo, they left the chips near the edge and I can reach.
What kind of party would it be without these two?
Newcomers to the party, we will see if we scared them away or if they come back.

From left to right: My Daddy flies P-3s in the Navy, My Mommy is a Doctor in the Navy and My Daddy is in the Reserves.  Proud little military babies.
Did someone say sugar?
Go ahead A, we know you are only going to eat the icing off of it anyway.

You should have seen her Mom's face when she turned the corner.
Navy pilot flying an Air Force plane, what can I say, it was all that they had.

Until next year...

Oh The Activities

We are nothing short of busy just like any family that has two working parents and two little monsters in the house.  To top off our busy schedules we decide to go crazy and throw some extra activities into the mix here and there.

The girls had fun decorating cupcakes on St Patty's Day as I was upstairs with a friend sorting through and giving away a ridiculous amount of baby gear and clothing.

The girls have a love for all things sprinkles so if you look closely you will see that this cake says, Welcome to FL Mike.  Everything deserves some kind of sweet, doesn't it?

Oh yes, milkshakes on a train with as many rides around the parking lot as you would like.

I know I have a stroller, but your name is YaYa which means you must hold me.

This ride actually took A really high in the air and I think that I held my breath until the moment that it came to a stop.  Grr is not allowed to pick the rides anymore, the one before this involved water.
I can just imagine the conversation...
Row, Row, Row

Flipping cold, yes COLD in Florida in the Spring.  I don't know what was happening with the cold this year, but it put a damper on a lot of our plans including the St Augustine Seafood Festival.  We got there just in time to eat some shrimp, do a little craft shopping, ride a few rides and then run to the car in order not to freeze.

Theme Days

I always find it amazing how excited A gets when there is a theme at school.  I really wish there was a theme everyday because A will pop out of bed and actually get dressed before dancing all around the house.  On the days that there isn't a theme it is put on one sock and then walk around the house, put on another sock and read a book, get yelled at to her up and then put on a shirt.  AHHHH the mornings can be so stressful sometimes.  The only saving grace is that P no longer has Velcro shoes which means I am not chasing her all over the house trying to find where she has stuffed her own shoes because she wants to wear mine.

GOAL

We have officially made it through our first season of organized sports.  The weather wasn't much help considering that there was rain at a majority of the games and our fair share of cold too, but we officially made it through the season.
There were a few temper tantrums which meant pep talks from Daddy along the way, but I am pretty sure that A enjoyed her new sport.

Come on Ada, I want to go to Chick Fil A

Sometimes it is just easier to pick up the ball and run.

Snack time for the team
Adelaide is such a lucky little girl, she has so much support from family and friends with everything that she does.  My favorite part of the season had to be when Adelaide realized that the Meatballs were there to see her and she ran off of the field to say hello.  During the same game she saw us set up the little girl chairs and was furious that her sister was able to sit and watch while A had to run around during the game.  She literally ran off of the field, sat in the chair, grabbed her sisters juice box and watched the rest of her team run in circles.
The Meatballs came to watch too

YaYa trying to convince her to get back on the field.

We were so very proud of A and the progress that she made over her six games.  She started out the season by just standing in the middle of the field watching the ball roll right by her.  By the time that the season ended she was literally the only child running on the field trying to finish the game, everyone else has surrendered.  Onto the next new activity...flag football!
