It's Football Time in Fleming Isl

If you have been following this blog for any length of time you know that I live in a house full of football nuts and the loudest one is Adelaide.  Imagine A's excitement when we told her that she was going to be able to play football.  Some of you may be reading this and thinking about A's size.  Yes, she was the smallest team member and one of the two girls on the team, but thankfully this was flag football and not tackle.  This Mommy could not sit back and watch her little girl get pushed around by a bunch of big boys.  So on to the games...
Adelaide of course had a problem with understanding that you are not only supposed to share your pink football but also that the other kids are supposed to steal your flags and that is why you are supposed to run run run.
First game was a flop for this mom as I forgot the mouth guard, forgot the diaper bag for P which we needed, forgot the chairs and I forgot the camera.  AHHHAAAAHHHH!  No worries, we got it together by the next game.  I had the camera and was ready to go and then it happened, they set her up to run down the field and I was so excited to see her going in the right direction and not yet having her flags pulled that I forgot to video her scoring her first touchdown AAAHHHHHHAAAHHHH!  Not to diminish her TD but the coaches arranged with the opposing coach that no one would pull her flags and let her run.  Yes, at this point I almost cried.
This season A was much more confident about being on the field without the folks, played when she was supposed to (for the most part), she made some new friends and this Mommy came to realize that I can't be scared of A going to kindergarten with all of these big boys.  Oh and she scored three TDs.

The league was through the Y so there was a short prayer before each game.

Princess Penelope on the sidelines.

No this photo is not distorted, she was that much smaller than everyone else, but she didn't bat an eye at it.

Her favorite position and part of the game.
The family all together for the last game.
Pizza party to wrap up the season.

Coach Bobby and Coach Joe, couldn't have asked for better coaches.

trophies and footballs to take home.
